AION
A new creation by Erna Ómarsdóttir and Anna Thorvaldsdóttir.
World premiere at Point music festival in Gothenburg. AION is inspired by an abstract notion of time and the journey between dimensions. In AION, Erna Ómarsdóttir choreographer and Anna Thorvaldsdottir composer invite the audience on an otherworldly voyage where music and movement merge in a unique way.
Anna Thorvaldsdottir and Erna Omarsdottir are both highly acclaimed within their artistic field. Anna Thorvaldsdottir is currently Composer-in-Residence with Iceland Symphony Orchestra and her work has been performed by the world’s leading orchestras, like the New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic, to name a few. Erna Ómarsdóttir is the Artistic Director of Iceland Dance Company and has received much acclaim for her creations, which have been performed at leading art festivals and theatres worldwide.
AION is a collaboration between Iceland Dance Company, Iceland Symphony Orchestra and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Iceland Dance Company and The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra will premiere AION at Point music festival in Gothenburg. AION will be performed by Iceland Dance Company and Iceland Symphony Orchestra in April 2020.
The Finnish conductor Anna-Maria Helsing will be leading the orchestras in both Gothenburg and in Reykjavik.
