Description
Alexander Borodin (1833–1887): String Quartet No. 2 in D major – I. Allegro moderato (Live)
About the piece:
Borodin’s Second Quartet (composed around 1881 and dedicated to his wife, Ekaterina) is renowned for its warm, cantabile melodies. The first movement combines lyrical themes within a clear sonata form and prepares musical ideas that return later—most notably in the “Notturno.”
Hokkaido Quartet:
Roman Brnčić — Violin I
Hachidai Saito — Violin II
Irene Baiter — Viola
Arabella Ristenpart — Cello
Recorded on 18 July 2025 in Cologne-Niehl, Germany.
