In China, in 202 B.C. the Chu Empire and The Han Empire were at war. At that time, Xiang Yu, the Emperor of Chu was a well-known Chinese hero. However, during the war, he was ambushed by the Han warriors. Intimidated by the war drums and shocked by the metal strikes, folk melodies of Chu sung by Hans’ soldiers, demoralized the Chu solders. Xiang Yu was cornered. He committed suicide near the Wu River, falling on his own sword.

The piece takes full advantage of the complexity of the Pipa, and brings back to life the ancient battle field. The romantic melody shows the sadness and tragedy of the defeated hero.
