Much too funny as it may seem, it so happens,
I'm as outright an oddity as that:
I am chasing, I am chasing distant hazes,
And I cannot keep myself in hand at that.

Some are after complex ventures,
Some involved in money matters,
Some break loose, out of pique or out of dumps.
As for me, I'm after hazes, distant hazes,
After hazes and the savours of Taiga.

Have no doubt that it is easy, very easy
For the one who ever got along, but once.
No mistake, it is zesty, real zesty:
Mountains, fir trees, rainstorms, hiker's songs, and sun.

With my usual suitcases
Chock-a-block for going places -
Sorrow, memory, and overdue devoirs,
I am chasing, I am chasing distant hazes,
Chasing fancies and the savours of Taiga.
