Sucker DJ's (I Will Survive)" by Dimples D. was one of Marley Marl's first successes, a hip-hop one-shot that made little noise upon release in 1983.
Vocalist Crystal Smith was chosen for the song [an answer song to Run-D.M.C.'s "Sucker M.C.s (Krush-Groove 1)"] but it did not sell in quantity upon its first release.
Ben Liebrand reworked the song in 1990, including a sample of the theme song from the American sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie".
The song had much better success upon the re-release, which even went #1 in Australia.
