This is a very old one. The music was written in 1904 by Fermo Dante Marchetti while the french lyrics in 1905 by Maurice de Feraudy. The first performance was done by Paulette Darty in 1905 and was published the same year.

The English lyrics were written by Dick Manning. This is the one that I got familiar with. It was recorded by diverse artists including Nat King Cole, Dick Jacobs, and David Carroll, all of which made the charts.
