When faced with periods of declining self worth, financial hardship, and disillusion with adulthood, happiness can feel like a destination that is impossible to reach. Especially in 2020, the path that we once hoped could take us there has become increasingly difficult to visualize. In “Light At The End,” we remind ourselves that when life continues to offer nothing but defeat and despair from every direction, we must believe, even blindly, that things can get better.
Lyrics by Ivan Barry, Zach Boucher & Brian McShea
Moving just to be in motion
Running til my legs are broken
How far is far enough? How far is far enough?
Muscles torn and overworked
From all the years of falling short
How long is long enough? How long is long enough?
Is my lack of faith misplaced?
Have I caught up to my mistakes?
I’m keeping it together the best I can
Cause I’m not going anywhere
I don’t need to see the light at the end
I just need to know it’s there
Is it there? Is it there?
I’m missing all my expectations
And living in my own self hatred
How good is good enough? How good is good enough?
Please tell me that I’ll get there one day
It’s getting hard to say I’m okay
How strong is strong enough? How strong is strong enough?
Is my lack of faith misplaced?
Have I caught up to my mistakes?
I’m keeping it together the best I can
Cause I’m not going anywhere
I don’t need to see the light at the end
I just need to know it’s there
Is it there? Is it there?
How far is far enough?
How long is long enough?
How good is good enough?
How strong is strong enough?
I’m keeping it together the best I can
Cause I’m not going anywhere
I don’t need to see the light at the end
I just need to know it’s there
Is it there? Is it there?
