This song by John Cruz is such a wonderful representation of a song that connects people and communities. My daughter introduced it to me and then when we were visiting Maui we heard it multiple times on the radio and in the ukulele shop - Mele Ukulele - where I bought my first ukulele. I added the do-re-mi syllables so that you can see how easy it is to become more aware of the tones of the scale. Then, as you become more familiar with the do-re-mi syllables, you can connect that to the notes on the staff and learn songs you haven't heard before from other cultures even more quickly.
