Description
Thanks to Ron Ireland for his musical brilliance and also for his friendship. Ron has worked his magic on a little poem that I wrote back in October after my boyfriend broke up with me. When I asked Ron several weeks ago if it might have a song in it, he said it did and then a couple of days later he sent back the recording that you're listening to on this video. Ron not only wrote the chorus and the melody, but he also changed the mood of the song from bleak abandonment to anticipation and hope. When people suffer a great loss, they often get tunnel vision and lose sight of the good things that are just around the bend. The original poem was entitled ''Waiting for the Train'' .... the lyrics below contain the original verses of the poem with the chorus added.

stood around the station, not much going on
walked around the platform, sang a lonesome song
train just kept on rolling, movin' down the line
waiting makes you crazy, sure can make you blind
CHORUS:
that's a train long gone, that's a train long gone
that's a train long gone, that's a train long gone
that's a train long gone, that's a train long gone
be another through here before too long
no one's coming for me, up and down the tracks
got no place to go now, for sure I can't go back
days are stretched before me, lined up in a row
lonely days and lots of tears, that's two things I know
REPEAT CHORUS
I hear the whistle calling, the ground began to shake
got my bags and walked outside, looked across the lake
that train she kept on rollin', didn't slow it down
she's half way 'cross the state by now and I'm still stuck in town
REPEAT CHORUS
